Mediapolis-Europa, Roma, Italy cooperates closely
with CATTID the Centro Applicazione per la Televisione e le Tecnologie per
l´Istruzione a Distanza (the Applied Centre for Distance Learning through
Television and Technology) and is a department of ‘La Sapienza’ University of
Rome. Mediapolis is working in the field of adult education and communication
research, and regards the democratic use of the media as an important aspect of
contemporary cultural activities. Mediapolis is involved in empowering all
groups in society with communicative ability, focusing especially on inhabitants
of rural areas and migrants.
Prof. Dr. Beatrice Barbalato: Besides her academic experience,
she has experience with teaching new media technology to socially disadvantaged
groups and with creating historical sound archives.
